During the different spin-off projects which Innotek coordinated in recent years, we found that even within existing businesses often a nice breeding ground exists to start new activities. By providing entrepreneurial employees the right framework, they can develop their entrepreneurial skills within the structures of the parent company.
This project aims to create additional employment by detecting and activitating business opportunities and intrapreneurship within existing businesses. The focus of existing companies is, after all, often on the core business, which means that new opportunities and internal talent for entrepreneurship are underused. With the support of the parent company, these prospective entrepreneurs and non-core activities can be the seeds for the start of a new successful business unit. With this project Innotek will contribute to fostering innovation and utilizing know-how and entrepreneurial potential within existing companies.
Our experience from previous spin-off projects teaches us that this new activity can be deployed at relatively short notice, given that the pre-development has already taken place withing the parent company. Moreover these activities seem to contribute to the profitability of the company within a short period of time and also make company more resilient through the diversification of activities.
The methodology of Innotek, to deploy experienced (ex-) entrepreneurs, business angels and senior consultants in order to detect and coach these opportunites can be applied here. Not only does this approach result in a better screening and activation of potential opportunities, it is also a unique opportunity for companies to determine whether their business portfolio can be extended. Very important here is the sounding board function of experienced coaches who look from the outside to the opportunities within the company. The experience thus deployed, increases the chances of success of the new activity and provides the intrapreneurs with the necessary sounding board to strenghten the business case of the new activity. Especially when these new entrepreneurs are assisted by coaches who have the necessary background for the creation of new business units.
